Hey. How YOU doin’. (an introduction)
I’m an angry Jew. You could have guessed that by the title I chose for this blog.
There’s a lot of things that go on in this world that piss anyone off who possesses half a brain, let alone a belief system that is pretty much antithetical to the rest of the world. So I’m basically going to be discussing everything that pisses me off while trying to adhere to the Jewish laws of watching my mouth and not talking trash about other people. You can learn more about that here .
Myself, I’m an ultra-Orthodox metalhead. That makes for some severe cognitive dissonance in its own right. When it boils down to it, I stick to the principles of the former (maybe because metal doesn’t have that many principles worth keeping, unless it’s like Sick of It All or Biohazard or something). Forget the problem about not being able to go to shows on Shabbos. In this type of music, there’s a lot of things that should upset any Jew who knows anything about his religion (such as Lemmy from Motorhead parading around in Nazi paraphernalia while insisting that he’s not a Nazi, or Peter Dolving from the Haunted making the statement (and I quote) that “Who cares anymore (about the Holocaust), unless you´re a total nutter.
The Holocaust issue isn’t the make-it-or-break-it for me issue with bands anyway. There’s a lot of philosophies spewed by the metal world that just don’t jibe with life as I see it, so I’ll be discussing those when I feel like it.
Also, I currently am engaging in dual residency in Israel, so I have a lot to talk about regarding the political scene.
I just want to make the disclaimer however, that I am completely unsuitable as a representative of the ultra-Orthodox world because I toe the line in so many ways, so no one should think that everyone thinks like me. Be warned.
Nice to meet you.
