Why I moved to Israel….

Published by skazm at 6:44 am under 1 Edit This

Someone who is born in America has a lot of opportunities available to them that aren’t necessarily easy to come by for people born in other places.  So why would I throw that away to come to what I termed before as a petty third-world style corrupt dictatorship bent on destroying itself and kissing the keyster of the country of my birth?

First of all, there’s religious reasons behind it.  It’s definitely considered a mitzvah, a commandment of G-d, for a Jew to live in the Holy Land whether or not there is a Jewish state.  There’s an argument whether it’s an obligatory commandment or just a good thing to do, but either way, there’s no denying, a Jew is doing the will of G-d when he makes his home in this joint.

That’s foremost.  And there are other reasons, like I don’t have to worry about explaining Jewish holidays to employers (employers? hah!) when I need to take off (although in many cases I have to fight tooth and nail if it’s a holiday where writing and driving aren’t actually forbidden).    More later…
