The Dumb Leading the Dumber? Or the Dumbest Letting Him Lead At All??
OK… the Yeshiva World reported here today that though Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice isn’t making the distinction between Jewish “settlements” in Yehudah and Shomron and Jerusalem, yes, Jerusalem, when it comes to giving up land to the Arabs, Olmert told her that the construction in those areas will not cease.
That’s the only semi-reasonable thing we’ve heard the guy say in a while, considering the hudna (ridiculous sham of a peace treaty for those of you who don’t know Arabic) he is pursuing with Hamas at this point in time, a deal that involves the release of hundreds of Arab murderers but for some, odd, strange reason, does not include the release of Gilad Shalit (may G-d avenge his blood and his family’s tears).
Incidentally, Yeshiva World also reported this morning that according to Lebanese news reports, a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hizbullah will take place on Friday (20 June) or Sunday (22 June). The deal will include the release of Samir Kuntar and other Lebanese prisoners taken prisoner during the Second Lebanon War for IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev.
There has been no comment from official Israeli sources on the report.
The thing is, why do we let Olmert stay in office? Why didn’t he go in and freaking destroy Lebanon completely until these boys were returned home in the first place? The Americans for once kept their hypercontrolling mouths shut and had no problem with letting them continue in Lebanon, but Olmert’s foul decisions (decisions I won’t say I know anything about or could have done any better, because I am a silly person blogging) led to the deaths of so many of our soldiers for nothing. If he had gone in and been duly trounced and forced to withdraw, that’s one thing. But he just withdrew, and let them have those boys, and who knows now if they’re even alive or permanently damaged, and now more murderers (who have their full faculties) are going to be released to spill more Jewish blood.
Why is this guy still in office?

There’s no precedent to removing him from office. We don’t have any way of getting rid of him aside from ‘making him feel uncomfortable enough to step down’. And Olmert’s too much of a egotistical jackass to step down. So all we’re left with is ‘making him feel uncomfortable’. That’s not much of an impeachment process if you ask me.
