You think New York is any safer?!

Yeshiva World reports that on July 3rd, a car thief broke into a red van with Delaware plates that had been sitting at 53rd Street and Second Avenue in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park for about a month.

To his surprise, the erstwhile thief found the van chock full of gas cans and Styrofoam cups containing a mysterious white substance with protruding wires and switches. Not afraid to risk jail time (maybe the cops in Israel should take lessons in self-sacrifice from him, entertainingly enough) he got out and called a cop he knows from his previous run-ins with the law.

“He did the right thing,” a high-ranking officer said. “And he possibly saved a lot of people’s lives.”

The cops likely won’t file charges against the thief simply because of the fact that he had enough courage to do what was right, even when he was in the middle of doing something wrong.

Just goes to show that no one is safe, whether you’re in Israel or in NYC. And in NYC it’s less expected.

It’s really amazing to see that someone who is just a common criminal himself had enough decency to know to call the cops and not be afraid for his own tail.  It’s a sorry parallel to note that where here in Israel so many people who are actually police officers are too afraid to go to jail, so won’t shoot even when the situation has all the signs of needing it.  It is because of the legislation in this country at the hands of the ultra-leftist cabal, which, as I said before, truly castrates the police and military forces here.

At least in NYC, the cops take care of their own, as well.  The City of New York which has seen a real crime decrease in the past decade or so would never be so stupid as to make such ridiculous laws to such an extent that the cops are afraid to do what they’re hired to do:  save people’s lives.
